| Born in South Africa, Jay has been a Canadian citizen for 22 years. He was involved in the struggles of South African workers and others who were victims of inhuman and racist government legislation. His family was involved in these issues from the days of Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian Congress of Natal and South Africa. Jay's brother was a prisoner on Robben Island for 20 years, and today is a Member of Parliament of the Government of National Unity under President Nelson Mandela. | |
