The Centre for Spirituality at Work
StreetWalk for the Homeless
Friday, November 2, 7:30 to 11:30 pm

Sanctuary, 25 Charles Street East, Toronto

Work is an essential part of every life. We have a right to work for our livelihood, to support ourselves and our families. And from this we can achieve a sense of respect, dignity, self-worth, pride in a job well-done. And in our interconnectedness, isn't it the responsibility of each of us to foster an economy that can provide honest work opportunities for people? For those who have lost their homes, having some work can be a lifeline back into a productive life. Several Centre for Spirituality at Work community members are creating opportunities to support organizations with a focus on work for homeless and marginally housed people in Toronto. We're calling the project "Work for the Homeless: Making a Difference".

Our next event is a StreetWalk, an opportunity for a glimpse of the realities of life on the street. We gather at Sanctuary near Yonge & Bloor for orientation and guidance in preparation for spending a couple of hours outside on our StreetWalk, and then regroup at Sanctuary for debriefing. The folks at Sanctuary, www.sanctuaryministries.on.ca, are very experienced coordinating StreetWalks.

The fees for the StreetWalk will be contributed to Mustard Tree, a project affiliated with Sanctuary. Mustard Tree is the vision of businessman Wayne Rumsby to start a business that creates permanent jobs for marginalized people and provides the ongoing individual support they need in order to hold employment.

$30 prepaid by October 31, $40 at the door. Contributions of $50 or more will receive a charitable donation receipt for income tax purposes.

Please make your cheque payable to Spirituality in the Workplace, and send it to Centre for Spirituality at Work, Box 100, 162 Spruce Street, Toronto, M5A 2J5.
