Enneagram at Work
with HELEN PEACOCK

Tuesdays Oct. 19, 26, Nov. 2, 2004
6:45 pm to 9:45 pm
Toronto School of Theology, U. of T.

The Enneagram is a powerful system for understanding human motivation that offers amazing insights into the way we perceive and relate. Its origins are believed to date back to at least 14th century Sufism, and its acceptance today was developed partly through its use in Jesuit communities. The Enneagram styles differ from the well-known Myers-Briggs types by focusing on motivation, beliefs, and inner habits of thinking and feeling. You find your place on the Enneagram through your inner experience rather than your outer behaviour. Learn to apply the Enneagram in your work and personal life as a tool for self-awareness, leadership, relationships and teambuilding.

Helen Peacock, MSc, has been giving Enneagram teachings through the Centre for Spirituality at Work for several years now and her programs are always fascinating and popular. We are indeed fortunate to have her, the Past President of the International Enneagram Association who has studied with every major Enneagram author/teacher. Through Turning Point International, Helen achieves extraordinary results for her corporate clients, such as Cara Operations and Motorola Canada, by applying her in-depth knowledge of the Enneagram motivational model and her many years of line management experience. She focuses on the areas of Leadership, Teambuilding and Change Management. Reach Helen at Helen.Peacock@sympatico.ca.

6:45 – 9:45 pm
Toronto School of Theology, U. of T.

Values are the priorities that underpin your behaviour -- your emotions, beliefs, ideas and decisions. This internal value system is critical because it gives meaning to your life and pulls you into the future. Yet 90% of value activity is unconscious. Learn to name, define and follow the development of your values within a rich, reliable and dynamic development theory grounded in 124 different values. Understanding your values will help you work and live with greater integrity and authenticity, thereby influencing your choices, decisions and relationships to unfold within your own moral and ethical framework. You will receive a personalized and comprehensive values profile.

Paul Giroux is a long-term career management and personality profile specialist in transition, renewal and values consulting and a former theology faculty member. He has been certified to train others in Values Technology (www.KnowAndRelate.com), developed by California-based former Torontonian Dr. Brian Hall for use with organizations, couples, and individuals. Life Integrity

"First we create our work, and then our work creates us" Ira Progoff

Life Integrity is a path of integration. It's about placing yourself in the middle of your life, claiming and bringing your work, family, friends, finances, and so on toward unity. Life Integrity addresses the desperation that can come from trying to balance your work and your personal life - - as if they were separate, external objects to be moved into just the right arrangement. Career and personal transitions and opportunities often present themselves as dilemmas. Work overload can seem constant, ceaseless, and overwhelming. Life Integrity helps you to claim all the parts of your life and remain whole. While identifying, working with and bringing together the many parts of your life, you will learn a process and tools for self-awareness and life integration including twilight imagery, journaling, and internal dialogue.

An Introduction to Constructive Communication
with KATHLEEN CONWAY

Saturday January 29, 2005
10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Bring lunch
Metro Hall, Downtown Toronto

Out beyond ideas of 'rightdoing' and 'wrongdoing', there is a field...
I'll meet you there.
- Rumi

Be introduced to a simple yet profound process for preventing or peacefully resolving differences by deeply connecting with another person’s feelings and needs as well as with your own. Teams can increase goodwill and cooperation amongst themselves and with others; co-workers can resolve differences and accommodate different viewpoints. Individuals can break patterns of thinking that lead to anger, depression and stress; parents can nurture and build family relationships. Constructive Communication is based on the internationally-known work of Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D., founder of the Center for Nonviolent Communication and author of "Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Compassion". Constructive Communication puts "hands and feet" to any spiritual practice and releases stress all concerned. .

Kathleen Conway, MA (Communication Arts) is a facilitator and writer who specializes in communications skills. She is a trainer candidate with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (www.CNVC.org), and has studied the work of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg for seven years. Kathleen leads lively, interactive and practical workshops throughout Canada and the U.S. Some of her current clients include VISA Canada, TSX Group, MCI Canada, and federal and provincial government ministries and agencies. Finding Vocation: Clarity + Courage = Confidence

Tuesdays Feb. 15, 22, Mar 1, 2005
6:45 – 9:30 pm
135 Adelaide Street E. (east of Church St.), the Anglican Diocesan building

Most people spend more time planning a vacation than they do thinking about their life. Yet, in order to move forward with confidence and find your vocation, both clarity and courage are necessary. This program gives you time for individual self-reflection, sharing with a partner, and group discussion, all within the context of the discernment model, Clarity and Courage. Come with your musings about your career restlessness, your retirement, your job loss, or other major life changes. And enjoy the live piano music and singing that will help us on the journey.

Tim Elliott, DMin, is a work transition consultant whose doctoral work focused on vocation. He is a jazz pianist and former Anglican parish priest who started popular Jazz Vespers services. Through Elliott Resource Services, Tim offers programs that integrate music, spirituality, teamwork, creativity and business to encourage purposeful and responsible living for both organizations and individuals. And for fun, he is currently researching the connection between jazz and spirituality. You may remember Tim as a speaker at our 1999, 2001, and 2003 spirituality in the workplace conferences, and his wife, CBC's Judy Maddren, at our 1998 conference.
